Diploma in Microvascular Surgery

The Diploma in Microvascular surgery is a hybrid course design for 6 month of duration with 3 modules that offers training in microvascular surgery at COMPASS CANCER CENTER, AHMEDABAD. With the inception of this course, our intent is to impart thorough knowledge and fine skills of microvascular surgery to deserving surgeons within the multidisciplinary context of post reconstruction care and also, to promote the research in the field of microvascular surgery. Training focuses on functional and aesthetic reconstruction of defects and deficits in the head and neck region. The Participant will be participating in a busy operative schedule, as well as monthly lectures by international and national faculties.Dedicated mentorship support will be provided to all trainees throughout the course duration to ensure continuous guidance, skill development, and academic excellence.

Upon completion of a 6-month diploma, the surgeon will possess the following characteristics:

Expertise in multidisciplinary planning and execution of microvascular reconstruction in head and neck, maxillofacial, and complex oncologic defects.

Comprehensive knowledge of reconstructive anatomy, flap physiology, wound healing, and principles of perioperative care, including coordination with anesthesia, critical care, nutrition, and rehabilitation services.

Proficiency in the selection, harvest, and inset of commonly used pedicled and free tissue flaps, with an understanding of donor-site morbidity and functional outcomes.
